SB 810 - California Single payer sent to Assembly
trickymaster, 17:10h
Yes, California has passed the single payer system through the Senate and has sent it to the Assembly.

California has already passed two other single payer health-care legislation only to see how they were vetoed by the governor. California can and will do what Washington D.C couldn't. Once again, it will be the pioneer that shows that Single-Payer is the better way.
SB 810 has to be signed by August 2010 by the full Assembly it will be sent to the Governor. We will have elections at the same time which could decide over whether we can override another Governor veto. Democrats just need two more seats to do so. We couldn't have a better time to pass a bill establishing a Single Payer health-care system, so shortly after federal health care reform has failed, premiums are rising and people are losing their health coverage when they lose their jobs.
I was surprised as I did not expect that the United States would go the same ways as Canada. But it can't hurt :-)
